"Gen-Z’er"
2021
Received January 13, 2022
As a young woman who is barely into her twenties, I was a bit nervous seeking out and meeting a photographer whom I knew I would be spending many hours with, in a very vulnerable position. All of these nerves dissipated the moment I first met Ed.
Ed felt like someone I had known for years right off the bat at my consultation. Ed encouraged me to bring a friend along for the consultation, and his wonderful wife Pam was upstairs the whole time.
We spoke about my goals for the photos and my limits; I never felt as though I was out of control of the process. Before I knew it, we had talked for three hours, and I could not wait to come back and have my photos taken.
I am a Gen-Z’er. My childhood beauty standards were defined by photoshop, airbrushing, and Instagram. I do not always have the best self-esteem when it comes to my body.
I was very prepared to end up with maybe ten photos that I was proud to look at myself in from this process, and I was going to be thrilled if I had that many. Instead, I received 297 of the most beautiful photographs I have ever seen.
Ed’s mastery of light and shadow illuminated a me that I had never seen before. Looking at the photographs, I feel beautiful and strong. But the best part of the experience is when I look in a mirror now, I still see that new image of me. Curves and features that I overlooked before are shining out. It is the same body as I had before, of course, but now I have a new appreciation for it.
Thank you, Ed. I will certainly be returning for more photographs, and I am happy to now call you my friend.
Thank you for showing me who I can be.
